What do we lose, if we lose the night?

According to the 2016, “World Atlas of Artificial Night Sky Brightness,” 80% of the world’s population and 99% of people living in the United States and Europe do not experience a natural night. Light pollution affects our health, the health of wildlife, our view of the starry night sky, and our wallets. 

If millions of people never get a chance to look up in wonder at the Milky Way, what do we lose?
